Welcome To The Indigo Mountain Cottage

Indigo Mountain Cottage has a long history in Floyd County, Virginia. Thomas Jefferson gifted the land the cottage sits on to the Hylton family. The original parcel contained slaves quarters which can still be seen under the house. In 1905 the Ward Family Homestead you see today was built. As the years passed, additional add-ons and upgrades occurred with the final version beautifully restored to a modern day log cabin feel in the living room area.

Adda Ward’s great-grandson still owns property surrounding the cottage and he lives down the lane, overseeing the cottage. Snugly nestled between two mountains and a deep forest in a “holler” next to the West Fork of Dobbins Creek, cottage visitors enjoy soothing sounds of the babbling brook from all bedrooms and the wide porch.  This home is fully renovated with modern amenities and is a delight to visit! The current owners of the cottage are descendants of the Boyd and Radford families of Floyd, VA and welcome you to a magical place called Indigo Mountain Cottage.
