In 2007 we are celebrating our 15th anniversary!  WOW It seems like yesterday and Headwaters Outfitters continues to offer canoeing, kayaking and tubing trips in Western North Carolina on the beautiful French Broad River. These river trips are perfect for those looking for "fun things to do" in the great outdoors. The canoeing, kayaking, and tubing trips are self-guided with the exception of our seasonal special events. You will find as you paddle along this historical river or cool off on a hot summers afternoon tubing trip that you've discovered a very unique and special place!  Make sure to check out our overnight canoe-camping trip! Headwaters Outfitters, is conveniently located just outside of Brevard NC, one hour west of Asheville is an easy one day trip from Charlotte, Greenville, or Raleigh, and a great weekend get-a-way from Atlanta.

SPRING ALONG THE FRENCH BROAD RIVER
Spring is the perfect time to explore the beautiful scenery of the French Broad River, and what better mode of transportation than in a canoe? This peaceful eight-mile guided canoe trip will take about four hours to complete. You, your friends or family, paddle downstream through perhaps the most beautiful section of the entire river. Join one of our experienced river guides and encounter the beauty and tranquility of this ancient river as it springs to life with the melodic chatter of wildlife and the colorful burst of new foliage. Reservations are required and are confirmed with a 50% deposit. The trip fee is $50.00 per person which includes; canoe, paddle, life jacket, transportation to & from the river, and river guide.

DISCOVERY AT DUSK
Slip your canoe paddle into the tranquil waters of the French Broad and ease your way down stream as the day’s light fades to dusk. The sounds and life of the river this time of day just can't be compared! You'll paddle 8 miles, approximately 4 hours downstream through what many claim as the most beautiful section of the French Broad River. Watch the different bird life glide through the air in hunt of their last meal of the day, be it an insect zipping through the wind or a fish splashing through the current around you. Catch a glimpse of the beaver’s tail as he escapes into dark recesses of the river in search of his burrows entrance. Every trip provides the opportunity for a wide array of wildlife observation around every bend. Reservations are required and are confirmed with a 50% deposit. The trip fee is $50.00 per person which includes; canoe, paddle, life jacket, transportation to & from the river, and river guide.

COLORS OF THE FALL ON THE FRENCH BROAD RIVER
Experience the fall leaf season from the rivers point of view! You can’t help but get caught up in the excitement and awe of the beauty of nature. As you careen through the peaceful river, a real canvas of exhilarating bursts of color will surround you. See the leaves change to the season. Trees burst into artistic flames around every bend as yellow, orange, red and green collide in a frenzy of color. Reservations are required and are confirmed with a 50% deposit. The trip fee is $50.00 per person which includes; canoe, paddle, life jacket, transportation to & from the river, and river guide.  October Dates: 6th, 13th, 20th, & 27th

Driving Directions to Headwaters Outfitters

Headwaters Outfitters is located in Transylvania County and surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. If you're the outdoors type of person and you've never been to our part of the country, then you are missing the adventure of a lifetime.

From Asheville: Take I-26 to Exit 40 (Asheville Regional Airport) Turn right onto NC 280 toward the Airport and continue to Brevard (19.2 miles). Highway NC 280 will intersect at a stoplight with US 64 West and 276. Take US 64 West straight through the city of Brevard (around four miles). Headwaters Outfitters is located approximately 9 miles west of Brevard on the right at the intersection of US 64 and NC 215.

Atlanta, GA: Take I-85 North to SC exit #1(Cherokkee Foothills Scenic Highway also Hwy.11). Take Hwy. 11 through West Union to SC 130. Take a left onto SC 130 North. When it crosses the state line it becomes NC Hwy. 281 North. Continue to Intersection of US 64. Take a right going east on 64. Headwaters Outfitters is located approximately 8 miles on the left at the intersection of US 64 and NC 215.
From Charlotte, NC: Take I-85 South to Exit 10-B, US 74 (Shelby/Kings Mountain) Take US 74 West to I-26 West to Exit 40 (Asheville Airport). Turn left onto NC 280 toward the Airport and continue to Brevard (19.2 miles). Highway NC 280 will intesect at a stoplight with US 64 West and 276. Take US 64 West straight through the city of Brevard (around four miles). Headwaters Outfitters is located approximately 9 miles West of Brevard on the right at the intersection of US 64 and NC 215.
From Greenville, SC: Take US 276 into Brevard until you come to the intersection of US 276 and US 64 (Broad St). Turn left at courthouse onto US 64 West continue approximately 8 miles to Rosman. Headwaters Outfitters is located approximately 1 mile past the Rosman exit on right at the intersection of US 64 and NC 215.
Raleigh/Research Triangle : Take I-40 West to the intersection of I-40 and I-26 at Exit 46 after Asheville. Take I-26 East to Exit 40 (Asheville Airport ). Turn right onto NC 280 toward the Airport and continue to Brevard (19.2 miles). Highway NC 280 will intesect at a stoplight with US 64 West and 276. Take US 64 West straight through the city of Brevard (around four miles). Headwaters Outfitters is located approximately 9 miles West of Brevard on the right at the intersection of US 64 and NC 215.
From Waynesville: Take US 276 into Pisgah Forest. At intersection of Hwy. 64, 276 & 280, turn right onto 64 West, the divided highway. Take US 64 West through Brevard. Once you are through Brevard travel approximately 9 miles to Rosman. Headwaters Outfitters is located approximately 1 mile past the Rosman exit on right at the intersection of US 64 and NC 215.
From Hendersonville: Take US 64 into Pisgah Forest. At intersection turn left onto the divided highway. Take US 64 West through Brevard and travel approximately 8 miles to Rosman. Headwaters Outfitters is located approximately 1 mile past the Rosman exit on right at the intersection of US 64 and NC 215.
