32 years ago, Mountain River Tours, now known as Adventures Mountain River, launched its first fun whitewater rafting trip down the New River in West Virginia. Shortly after, Mountain River introduced the whitewater world to the Upper Gauley in West Virginia. Both white water rivers are now National Recreation Areas run by the National Park Service. Throughout this time a number of generations have found that West Virginia whitewater rafting provides a setting that can't be outdone when it comes to having fun on the white water river or spending quality time with family or friends in white water excitement and fun. Both white water rivers are now know as America’s Best Whitewater rafting.

It is with this in mind that we strive to share our whitewater rafting experience and knowledge of the river with our guests to ensure that they are provided with memories to last a lifetime, and a adventure vacation that is truly unique. Adventures Mountain River was the first outfitter to require helmets for our guests in class III to class IV white water. The first white water outfitter to use rear mounted oars in whitewater and the first to raft the Gauley River white water on a regular basis.
